Grants awarded to CALM
Since 1985 CALM has secured on average £40k per annum for the University with funding from a variety of sources including the UK Computing Board, the Department of Trade and Industry, a number of leading British firms and the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council. In addition, CALM has been successful in supplementing its income through prizes from Research Machines in 1988, the prestigious Partnership Award for innovative teaching of Mathematics in 1993 and the first award to Higher Education by the Bank of Scotland in 1995. Moreover, CALM organised one of the three principal resource centres for the TLTP project Mathwise which attracted in excess of £200k into the University from 1992 onwards. Small but significant amounts of money have also been raised through the sale of software over the period from 1988 to the present. More recently CALM has established strategic alliances with the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate and EQL International of Livingston in West Lothian.
